ACMAP
Interactive Map of the County
Requirements:
- Win XP/Vista/7 and IE 7 or 8
- The County officially uses XP and IE7 but we have Win 7 and IE 8 for use in GIS so we know these configurations work. These are the only configurations we can directly test. If you find any others that work or don't work please let us know so we can document those here.
- Operating Systems/Browsers that others have found that work:
- Firefox 3.5 & 3.6.
- Known Bugs:
- Restarting session: if your session has timed out or you have closed the map, before you can reopen a new session you must close ALL open browser windows.
- Best viewed at screen resolution 1024x768 or better
- Help documentation is included within the appliction by clicking on the "?" buttons on many of the menus and screens.
- Latest software release info (Feb 2011): OnPoint 6.4, ArcGIS 10
Click to launch: Interactive Mapping Browser
This application provides access to most of the County's GIS data in an interactive browser. Four tabs provide different selections of data to view (General, Environment, Parks, Planning.)
To search for an address use the tool within the application after you click here .
(note if you have scripting disabled in your browser these searches may not work.)
Notes:
1) The street names used in our GIS are the most current and official listing of names and spellings. We checked the County records from 1934 (when the board approved new street names) forwards to find any changes and applied those corrections in 1999. We are very confident that our listing is correct according to the County records. The Post Office does not assign street names so they are not the
authority. Also if you spot an incorrect spelling on a street sign, please report it.
2) Commercial GIS/GPS/Cartographic companies may not have the most current data for Arlington. We do not have the ability to quality control every cartographic representation of the County in the commercial sector. If you question or doubt the validity of a commercial mapping product please refer to one of our current maps and then report any errors directly to the commercial company.
Online mapping companies like Google, Microsoft, Map Quest, etc... purchase their mapping data from other third party vendors and may not have current data either. They update their web sites on their own schedules. If you have a complaint about data shown on a site please contact them directly. |
